You Cannot Give What You Do Not Have

Why do some people struggle to show love? Why do some people find themselves incapable of forgiving others? Why do some people struggle to serve, share or support other people? One common reason is the principle that, “we cannot give what we do not have.” We’ll examine how this principle works and explain how Lakeshore offers multiple forms of support to help people grow spiritually so they have something vital to give to others.

Here I Am , Send Me!

When it comes to serving, God is always more interested in our availability than our ability. When God was looking for someone to go out and serve people, the prophet Isaiah passionately responded, “Here I am. Send me!” Just as Isaiah responded to the call of God to serve, so should we. We’ll explore ways in which everyone can serve and use their gifts and talents to serve God in a ministry at Lakeshore Community Church. And services will end early as we host a ministry fair to explore all the ways you can serve.

Sleeves Rolled Up

The world defines greatness by a person’s position. If they hold a position of importance, notoriety, or power then we often think that they have achieved greatness. But God defines greatness by a person’s practices— what they do to roll up their sleeves and serve other people. Jesus taught this value to his disciples amidst their jockeying for positions of power along side Him and explains how true greatness comes not from being served but from serving. We’ll examine how this principle can transform your life and help you pursue true greatness.

Here To Serve Series Overview

Everyone loves the experience of great service. Whether it’s a talented, friendly waiter at a restaurant or someone who helped us change a flat tire on a rainy day, few things grab our attention like great service. But what if we were the ones to offer great service to others? Would it still be a great experience? Jesus teaches that one of His main purposes was to turn the tables on how we understand “great service” so that we would spend our lives serving people just as He did during His time on earth, as opposed to having people serving us. It’s a model He left for us to live out today. We’ll examine how living with a “here to serve” attitude is actually as much (or more) fun than being served and how the rewards that come from it can be eternal.

Is God Really In Control?

One of the most perplexing questions people ask is, “If God really exists, why is the world in the mess that it’s in?” We wonder why a God that claims to be good allows so much bad in the world. If He exists, could it be that He is not in total control of all that goes on in the world? We’ll examine how God is in control of the world, even if it operates in a way that appears to suggest otherwise to our limited perspective. We’ll also provide some practical application and action steps that flow from this belief.
